» let’s find out a little bit about A R A B E L L A ;
Arabella Ward is a tragedy. She is the result of what happens when other people tamper with the lives of others. Arabella and her twin sister Annalise were born into the happy arms of Mr. Cohen and Mrs. Ward. Unknown to the two red-headed angels, Mr. Cohen had left his former wife, Paige’s mother, to be with Arabella and Annalise’s mother simply because their mother was captivating and the epitome of fun, everything Paige’s mother was not. Mr. Cohen was happy with his new family and his perfect little daughters until Paige’s mother and Paige came waltzing back into his life. Shaken by the visit from his former wife and daughter, Mr. Cohen needed air and claimed he needed to go to the store. Annalise begged her father to let her go with him, and after much prodding, he gave in. Mr. Cohen isn’t a very brave man, in fact, he shouldn’t have been on the road in his shocked state. All it took was one missed red light and Annalise was gone, dead instantly. No one knows what went through Mr. Cohen’s mind, maybe it was guilt or maybe it was much more, but after Annalise’s death he left the Mrs. Ward and their daughter Arabella to pick up pieces. Arabella felt like a piece of her had been ripped away when she found out about Annalise’s death. The two girls had been insanely close: they shared everything, they told each other all their secrets, and most importantly they kept each other in check. Now, Annalise was gone, and all Arabella had left was her mother. Together, the two got through the heart ache and the gap left by Mr. Cohen’s disappearance and Annalise’s death.
When Arabella was sixteen, her mother was diagnosed with cancer. At the time, Arabella was told her mother’s cancer was so far along that Mrs. Ward probably only had a year or less left to live. If hearts could shatter again, Arabella’s did. She watched as the youth and the life that her mother seemed to always possess fade and the light in her eyes started to disappear. When Mrs. Ward made it past the doctor’s expectations, Arabella felt hopeful, and maybe her mother would be able to fight through this and live much longer than planned. But, at eighteen, Arabella’s mother got worse, in fact, the severity of the cancer forced Arabella to drop out of high school and get her GED in order to take care of her mother who was dying slowly before her eyes. When Arabella’s mother died, the redhead was left devastated. She tried to call her father to tell him, but he never answered her back. Arabella was forced to make all the funeral arrangements on her own and was left to watch them as they lowered her mother’s casket into the ground.
Arabella is a lot stronger of a person because of what’s happened in her life, but she is also very alone. The issue isn’t that Arabella can’t take care of herself, she’s actually very capable. When Mr. Cohen, however, finally called his daughter back, he invited her to stay at his place in Gulf Shores. Deciding she had nothing left to lose and didn’t want to be on her own forever, Arabella packed up her things: a gun, twenty dollars, and a small suitcase, and headed to the address her father had given her. When she arrived at the address, much to Arabella’s shock, her father wasn’t even there. She was instead face to face with Ryder Cohen. Arabella doesn’t intend to even live with Ryder for long–she just needs to get a job so she can make enough money to sustain herself and get the hell way from her lying father. The only thing that would keep Arabella in town is her mother’s grave, which she visits on a daily basis.
» what has A R A B E L L A been up to this past year, only time will tell ;
With Arabella being so new to Gulf Shores, nothing too fascinating has happened to the redhead. Arabella does not really know what to do with herself. She has been staying with Ryder since he has allowed her presence in his house despite his sister Paige’s obvious dislike for her. She insists on paying rent and stays in the small room beneath the stair case, much like Harry Potter. She doesn’t like to venture out and eat out of Ryder’s kitchen despite the fact he told her to eat since “it’s too much for one fucking person anyway.” Arabella pays her rent with the money she makes from working at Coleman’s Country Clubs. Lately, though, Arabella has been itching to do something with her life. She started volunteering at the local clinic in Gulf Shores because it reminds her of her mother. Her mother had that magnetic appearance to her and Arabella would have done anything to preserve that. By helping at the clinic, Arabella is helping those who are sick out and it’s a gratifying feeling. Maybe she can end up saving someone else’s life since her mother’s life was not something within the redheads control. Arabella believes that maybe all the death in her life has brought her towards the calling of being a nurse. Of course, that is just a far-fetched dream, but at least now Arabella has a plan to work towards. She’s going to save up money in order to head back to school, but in the mean time, volunteering is enough to satisfy her. In fact, she’s learned so much that she can’t help but share her medical terminology in a conversation when it is relevant.
» A R A B E L L A ’S connections ;
Walker Lee Coleman » the saving grace
- When Arabella first arrived in Gulf Shores, she met Coleman’s Country Club manager Walker. To be fair, Arabella didn’t make the best first impression; she actually pulled the gun she brought with her on him when she thought he was trying to take what little she had left from her truck. Walker just chuckled and stated he could have anything he wanted–she could keep what she had. After talking a bit and learning more about each other, Walker offered Arabella a job as a waitress for the part of his father’s country club that he was in charge of. He sees it as a simple job, but to Arabella it is still everything and more. Walker is indirectly saving her and she’s forever in his debt. She still hasn’t grown comfortable around him, despite his attempts to befriend her. She still is formal with him, but Arabella is working on it. First she has to get used to calling him Walker instead of Mr. Coleman.
Ryder Axel Cohen » the surprise
- Arabella wasn’t prepared to find out that she had a two ‘step siblings’ when she arrived at the address her father had given her. Ryder, who isn’t actually related to Arabella, just glared at the redhead, but after making her sweat, he let her stay in the crappiest part of his house. Arabella didn’t care, in fact, the place was nice as far as what Arabella was expecting for someone who felt like an orphan. Ryder interests Arabella, and she keeps telling him she won’t be here long, she just needs to get back on her feet. Arabella is entirely innocent and has no idea about what Ryder’s done to her so she acts as grateful to him as she would to anyone else. Lately he’s been warming up to her, telling her to eat the food in his kitchen, even not putting a cap on how long she is allowed to stay. Arabella, however, still insists on paying rent–she owes him that much, at least, she thinks she owes him that much, In reality, it’s Ryder who owes her, but Arabella doesn’t know that.
Paige Sydney Cohen » the step-sibling
- Paige hates Arabella, and the redhead has no idea why. Since she’s been too wrapped up in her mother’s and her twin sister’s death, Arabella knows nothing about why her father left. The redhead does, however, have a sneaking suspicion he felt too guilty after Annalise died. When in Ryder’s house after work or volunteering, Arabella tries to avoid Paige at all costs. She’s a bit fearful of the brunette and finds it hard to hold a conversation with her. She feels as if she’s being attacked whenever Paige glances her way. Even now, nothing’s changed. Arabella, however, is determined to get to the bottom of it. She wants to know exactly why Paige cannot stand her.
Mallory Belle Rossini » the secret friend
- To put it in simple terms, Arabella and Mallory share a secret friendship. It was only natural they’d develop a small friendship since the two girls both work for Walker as waitresses. Even though it makes her sad to hide their friendship, Arabella understands why she and Mallory can’t openly be friends. Besides, since Arabella is so clueless as to why Paige hates her, she doesn’t want to give Paige another reason to hate her more than she already does. Over the past year, the two have become stronger friends, but no one knows it unless they watch how Arabella and Mallory interact at work. Needless to say, Arabella is grateful for a friend in Gulf Shores, even if it’s a secret one.
